The #Oilers have agreed to terms with forward Evander Kane on a one-year contract. #LetsGoOilers
Kane, 30, was originally acquired by the Sharks in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres in February 2018. He played a total of 212 games with San Jose, scoring 87 goals and 166 points. Kane signed a seven-year contract with the Sharks in May 2018, which carried a $7 million cap hit, before the deal was terminated earlier this month.
Kane had started the season in the AHL following a 21-game suspension for violating COVID protocols. He had also been investigated by the league for allegations of betting on NHL games, as well as domestic violence, but the league did not find evidence to support the allegations.
Kane’s deal with the Oilers is for the remainder of the season.
