The Penguins have done it! Finally, double J is coming to Pittsburgh! Everybody please welcome... Josh Jooris?
That's right. It's not Jaromir Jagr. It's not even Jussi Jokinen. The Penguins finally got their fix for double J by trading with the Carolina Hurricanes. This isn't a trade that is going to move the needle a lot, but it is a depth move for an NHL player at the cost of not an NHL player (Gregg McKegg).
The #Pens have acquired forward Josh Jooris (@JJooris19) from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Greg McKegg.

The Penguins have re-assigned Jooris to the @WBSPenguins.

I wouldn't get caught up with the assignment to WB/S because today is the deadline to have players in the AHL so that they are eligible for the playoffs. Even that isn't why he was sent down it isn't a big deal. Again, they got him for Gregg McKegg.
So what does Jooris bring? More than Tom Kuhnhackl
Being better than Kuhnhackl isn't saying much though. This is what it is, a trade for a 13/14th forward at the expense of somebody not on their NHL depth chart.
And with that the Penguins deadline has come and gone. Things didn't look great in July. They look much better now.
Thanks for reading!
