Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. I'm off by a couple days, but here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Where would you rank John Gibson amongst all other NHL goalies?

(Votes: 131)

Top 5: 44%
Top 3: 23%
Top 10: 23%
Outside the Top 10: 11%

I certainly agree with the 67 per cent of voters that put Gibson in the top five. After that though, it becomes more difficult. The only goalie I’d say is for sure better than Gibson (on a multi-year basis) is Andrei Vasilevskiy. After that, as long as you don’t factor in age, there’s Ben Bishop, Tuukka Rask, etc. for him to compete with as well. If I’m picking a goalie for a single season or playoff run, Gibson isn’t in my top three. However, if I’m picking a goalie to build a team around, he is for sure.

QUESTION:Are you happy to see Djoos and Hakanpaa re-signed?

(Votes: 53)

Yes: 83%
I don’t really care either way: 17%
No: 0%

Depth is always a good thing. Djoos is likely to be a regular on Anaheim’s back end next season and he’s shown that he’s capable of being an NHL defenseman. I’m not sold that Hakanpaa will have a permanent spot on the roster next season but he did have a decent year in the AHL and considering Anaheim’s lack of depth on the right side, he’ll have a chance at making the roster.

QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Silfverberg next season?

(Votes: 36)

More than 45 points: 44%
40-45 points: 33%
Less than 40 points: 22%

I love the optimism and it’s certainly possible we see Silfverberg maintain his pace. That said, I’m just not going to bet on it. He hasn’t been shooting enough and his shooting percentage is potentially too high to maintain. That said, I’d probably project his point total next year to be between 40 and 45 points rather than under 40 points.
