The Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday that they’ve hired Jim Hiller as an assistant coach.

Hiller has been an assistant coach in the NHL for the last eight years. After spending the 2014-15 season with the Detroit Red Wings, he had a four-year tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs, before spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the New York Islanders.

He also played 61 career NHL games, with 40 of them coming with the Kings in the 1992-93 season.

Hiller is expected to work with the forward group and focus on the power play.
