The Anaheim Ducks have assigned 11 players to the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.
The following players were all cut from Anaheim’s training camp over the last two days: Simon Benoit, Chase De Leo, Lukas Dostal, Jamie Drysdale, Benoit Olivier-Groulx, Jack Kopacka, Josh Mahura, Antoine Morand, Jacob Perreault, Andrew Poturalski and Brayden Tracey.
It’s worth noting that this group includes three players who are still CHL eligible, in Jamie Drysdale, Jacob Perreault and Brayden Tracey. Should the CHL season get underway, we can expect that Drysdale, Perreault and Tracey could return to their junior teams. Their contracts will not count against the team’s 50 contract limit, as confirmed by CapFriendly below.
Normally an 18 or 19 year old player playing in the AHL would count against a clubs 50 contract limit.
However, because many Junior clubs aren't playing yet, if a club temporarily sends a Junior eligible player to the AHL, they NHL has said they will not count against the 50.
