Jarry Injured, Oilers and Montembeault? (Edmonton Oilers)

Something to consider

Not much to say here other than Tristan Jarry sustained an injury in the Oilers 3-1 vs the Boston Bruins. Before being injured, Jarry was playing a solid hockey game and the Oilers have really improved their defensive structure. Calvin Pickard entered the game in relief and was very good, stopping all 12 shots.

Going forward, I’m not quite sure what the plan is as the extent of Jarry’s injury is currently unknown as he’s being sent back to Edmonton to be evaluated.

Connor Ingram

In the meantime, Connor Ingram has been called up to back up Pickard and perhaps show that he belongs in the NHL full time. This might be wishful thinking however, as he’s having a rough go in Backersfield  with a 4.04 GAA and 0.856 save percentage for a 4-5-2 record in 11 games. In his defence, the Condors are not having an amazing season, but those numbers are not necessarily promising.

Samuel Montembeault?

Maybe the Oilers could attempt to acquire Samuel Montembeault from the Habs as his value is very low at the moment and I think this would give them a really good tandem once Jarry returns. It might be something to consider. He has this year and next year left at 3.5 before he becomes a UFA so the cap situation would not be too bad.

For now it's a Pickard and an Ingram tandem. Hopefully the injury to Jarry is not too serious. The Oilers next games comes on Saturday
