I just got off the phone with a source who has been around the Montréal Canadiens organization for decades and he tells me that he has heard a real last 48 hours a lot of discussion involving Montreal and the Rangers in a possible deal that would send Artemi Panarin to Montreal for a first rounder in 2025 third rounder in 2025 and a conditional second rounder that could become a first rounder in 2026.
The Montréal Canadiens rebuild is in hyper mode as the team has the best power play in the NHL and is right at top the division.... This will be an aggressive move for the Rangers to make, as there was still a lot of hope going into the season that this team could turn things around.... I'm one of those pundits that picked the Rangers to rebound big-time this year and I still believe it's too early to count them out.... Basically every team in the east is within two points of each other... so when things get that close, I look at goaltending and the Rangers have that.
My source has been telling me for a few weeks now that the Canadiens are not gonna just sit back, they are going to keep adding and adding to the current roster. Management sees a window opening and they're not going to be sitting on their hands in Montreal....
