Maple Leafs, Goaltender Anthony Stolarz in Final Stages of New Contract
The Toronto Maple Leafs and goaltender Anthony Stolarz are reportedly finalizing the terms of a new contract. With the regular season set to begin next month, both parties were motivated to reach a resolution before puck drop. Locking down Stolarz became a top priority for the Leafs, especially after the news that Joseph Woll is stepping away from the team for personal reasons.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the two sides are in the final stages of signing the deal. Friedman took to X on Saturday morning to share the update:
Mentioned it last night during MON/TOR broadcast, but hearing Maple Leafs and Anthony Stolarz are moving towards an extension

When done, expect it to be in the approximately $4M-range.
After an incredible debut season in Toronto, it's a move that makes complete sense for both the player and the team. The projected contract would allow the Leafs to secure their goaltending tandem for the coming years for under $8 million annually. As the salary cap continues to rise, this represents a fantastic piece of business for the organization's future.
Update: Kevin Weekes has revealed the contract is expected to be for 4 years.
I’m told it’s currently a 4 year contract term on the table for a potential contract extension for Stolarz and @MapleLeafs .#HockeyX #LeafsForever

The deal is reportedly for under $4,000,000 per season according to Weekes.

Per sources, I’m told the @MapleLeafs and G Stolarz have agreed in principle to $15M over 4 Year Contract Extension that’s largely signing bonus money . Given the unknown return date for G Woll, this was a mutual priority. #HockeyX #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/rn4xENffsh
