Ville, Don't You Lose My Number (murray)

Zero goals. Only 15 assists. Only 38 shots taken in 58 game played. Zero percent shooting percentage

Ville, don’t you lose my number.

They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found "I'm never coming back" They heard him cry And I believe him Well he never meant to do anything wrong It's gonna get worse if he waits too long

Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere That I can find you Oh now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere that I can find you, oh no

Searching through the day and into the night They wouldn't stop till they found him They didn't know him and they didn't understand They never asked him why "Get out of my way" They heard him shout Then a blinding light Ooh all I could see was him running down the street Out of the shadows and into the night

Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere that I can find you, oh

Don't give up Keep running, keep hiding Don't give up Ville, if you know you're right Don't give up You know that I am on your side Don't give up Oh Ville, you better, you better, you better run for your life

Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere that I can find you, oh

They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found "I'm never coming back" They heard him cry And I believe him He never meant to do anything wrong It's gonna get worse if he waits too long

Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now Ville, Ville don't you lose my number Cos you're not anywhere that I can find you, oh

YES! I can finally go to the Phil Collins card to bid a heartfelt farewell to Ville Leino.

The Sabres didn’t announce the waiver. Canadian Press did.

Surprised? Not so much. This day has been coming for a year. Last summer at this time, the Sabres were not able to exercise one of their compliance buyouts on Leino because he was recovering from surgery. The new CBA clearly states that teams cannot buyout players who are injured. See Dany Heatley circa 2013-14.

Leino was slated to earn $11 million during the back nine of his ginormous six-year, $27 million contract with Buffalo. Lets assume that Leino clears waivers in the 24 hour period and goes unclaimed at Noon on Wednesday. Then, Terry Pegula can scratch Leino a check to skate away.

Leino’s Buffalo legacy will be remembered as a failure, having scored only 10 goals and 46 points in 137 games in the Blue & Gold sweater. Prior to his arrival in Buffalo, Leino had bagged 30 goals and 73 points in 149 games over four seasons in Detroit and Philadelphia. The Sabres had high hopes for Leino to be a fixture on one of their top two lines.

Sabres GM Tim Murray has zero emotional attachment to Leino, and that's a great thing for Sabres fans. Murray don't know 'em, so Murray don't owe 'em.

The Leino move will be addition by subtraction as it will open up a roster spot for one of Buffalo’s young guns during this rebuilding period. The Sabres have missed the playoffs in each of the past three seasons, and are coming off one of their franchise's worst seasons. The Sabres finished 30th in a 30 team NHL in 203-14 (21-51-10) and set a post-NHL-expansion-era low by scoring a pathetic 150 goals.

March 4, 2012. On that night, Leino played arguably his best game as a Sabre, scoring two goals in a win in Vancouver.

Ironically, David Booth also scored two goals for the Canucks on that night. Booth was also waived on Tuesday for the purposes of buying out his remaining Vancouver contract.

Why have the Colorado Avalanche decided to file for arbitration on their 23 year old center Ryan O'Reilly? They don't think that he is worth the $6.5 million per season that he earned the past two seasons as a result of the offer sheet that the Calgary Flames had signed during the lockout-shortened season of 2013.

Its a wild gamble to take a stud like O'Reilly to arbitration because the team doesn't think the player is worth what they paid him in his last contract.

I'd be less than impressed with the Avs were I O'Reilly, who can choose to accept either a one or two year arbitration ruling. He can walk from Colorado at age 24 or 25, just as he'll be entering into his prime years.

On Tuesday, O'Reilly's agent, Pat Morris, joined Hockey Central @ Noon on Sportsne590 The Fan in Toronto. Morris let it be known that his client would prefer to stay and play in Denver, however, now that the Avs have activates the arb process, O'Reilly will review all options that are available to him.

“Ryan would like to stay in Colorado. At the same time, a long-term deal has not been worked out, or isn’t close to being worked out. So, Ryan’s unrestricted in two years, and under the model now – given that Colorado has [filed for arbitration] – short-term looks like what the future is for Ryan going forward, possibly year to year, or for the next two years.…

Morris said that the Avs put the onus on the agent to inform O'Reilly of the decision to send him to contract arbitration. Talk about awkward.

“We’re now preparing for an arbitration case that we didn’t think we’d have to attend to,… said Morris. “And at the same time, as of the 25th of June, people can entertain talking to [restricted free agents], and he’s an RFA effectively until July 5th, at which time period then it’s just an arbitration case beyond that.…

O'Reilly will be a prime target to be handed another offer sheet or three between July 1 and July 5.

“We had some warning that the (arbitration decision) might be a situation that they take advantage of,… said Morris. “It’s within the CBA. Ryan understands that. He also understands that it’s unique – no player (in the new CBA) has been (taken to arbitration) for a pay-cut that is of his stature.…

I'll be watching the O'Reilly drama very closely. Let the trade speculation begin.
