Just want to let my readers know that I will be going on vacation starting tonight for just over a week.
With that, I will only post a blog or two while away when/if anything larger in terms of news presents itself. In my absence, I have asked former blogger Shaune Vetter to write a few articles for you all to enjoy!
Shaune is a very good writer and should have lots to discuss over the next week as we approach the draft and teams start to make bold and many times, unwise decisions. With some GM's and coaches on very short leashes, some organizations are pressing for change and with that often comes big and bold moves. Not always great if you're a fan of said team, but if you follow the Flames, you might make out like a bandit as teams give up on players.
With a ton of time and money available to them at the moment, the Flames should be able to take on salaries or players who other organizations no longer have the time or patience to develop. This doesn't usually yield any top end players, by any means, however there are times where a certain player is a late bloomer and changing environments ignites a new compete level within them.
I expect, as I mentioned, that the Flames will not be trading any draft picks. No, I don't not think that they will move up in the draft - it's simply not worth the price tag which is apparently being asked for at the moment. The will, however, do what they can to acquire more draft picks and or prospects, but also a veteran player or two.
Watch out for this team and the new Flames GM Brad Treliving. I expect some interesting moves...not necessarily bold, but interesting.
Thanks for reading!
