Sale of Isles Awaits Owner's Decision (Islanders)

According to a report from Chris Botta in the SBDJ, the pending sale of the NYI awaits only the decision of Charles Wang. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/SB-Blogs/On-The-Ground/2014/06/0620-NHL-Shift.aspx

Mr. Botta (whose information I trust implicitly) has some very interesting bullet points in today's column including this:

• Barroway is seeking to become the majority owner and purchase 80 percent of the team. “He wants decision-making authority and the ability to bring in his own people,… said a source.

Charles Wang is undecided if he is ready to let go yet.

Let me explain -- for all those who have yelled for years that CBW was only interested in the real estate and not the hockey team, let this serve as exhibit 'A' that he loves this team. He loves hockey. He wanted to see it succeed and did what he thought he could in order to make it work for ALL THESE YEARS.

But now, it may be time to let go of the reigns. The question for Mr. Wang is how much will he let go. Barroway's group is only set to purchase 80% which shows you that Mr. Wang still wants to be part of the Blue, White and Orange.

If this was strictly about recouping his losses -- he would have signed on the dotted line already.
