Rumor: Lightning, Canucks Discussing a Garrison Deal (tampa bay lightning)

TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that Tampa is a potential landing spot for Vancouver’s Jason Garrison. It is believed that the Canucks are interested in trading the 29-year-old defenseman.

Garrison, who has four years left on a deal that carries a $4.6-million cap hit, signed as a free agent with the Canucks in the summer of 2012.

Further, outside his one year in Vancouver under John Tortorella, Garrison has been a consistently good possession player. That's something the Bolts desperately need on a blue line that was dragged down by the Radko Gudas/Matt Carle pairing all year last year. Acquiring a proven possession driver would allow Jon Cooper and Rick Bowness more flexibility with their pairings.

Given the source, this is certainly a rumor to keep your eye on as draft day progresses. I'll update my blog should more news break.

As always, thanks for reading.
