In Pegula Buffalo Trusts (flyers)

Updated:

Jon Bon Jovi and Donald Trump certainly didn’t see THIS coming.

Last week, the rocker, the reality TV star-real estate magnate, and Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula submitted their non-binding bids to purchase the Buffalo Bills to banker Morgan Stanley. According to reports, Pegula’s bid was the highest of the three bids submitted.

During Sunday night’s “Hall Of Fame… game between the Bills and Giants, NBC reported that Trump made a $1 billion bid to Morgan Stanley last week.

Terry Pegula made more headlines on Tuesday when his net worth grew by another $1.75 billion. According to reports, Pegula closed on a $1.75 billion deal to sell the drilling rights on approximately 75,000 acres of land in Ohio and West Virginia to American Energy on Tuesday.

Terry and Kim Pegula appear to be the runaway, front-runners to buy the Buffalo Bills right now. The Pegulas and Trump have both been chosen to advance to the next round of the sale process by Morgan Stanley, the banking firm overseeing the sale. On Monday, Pegula’s net worth was last estimated by Forbes to be $3.3 billion. He made his fortune after selling off some of his company’s assets for $4.7 billion to Royal Dutch Shell in 2010. Add another $1.75 billion after Tuesday’s land deal.

Also on Tuesday, John Kryk of Sun Media reported that Bon Jovi has been granted a do-over on his initial bid submission. The buzz is that Bon Jovi’s round one bid was lower than the ones submitted by Trump and Pegula, therefore, he’s being given one last opportunity to enter a competitive bid in the $1+ billion neighborhood. If he chooses not to, the game is over for Bon Jovi.

The next step is for approved groups to advance to round two of the bidding process is to meet in-person with both Morgan Stanley and members of the estate to obtain the franchise’s financial information and to answer more questions about financials. Then, the groups will submit formal bids to Morgan Stanley. At that time, the Ralph Wilson estate will be able to ask the individual groups to up the ante on their respective bids. Pegula will not have a problem raising the stakes. He can pay cash for the Buffalo Bills today.

Will Trump and Bon Jovi get into a bidding war with a guy who have seemingly unlimited resources?

Stay tuned

With the future playing career of veteran leader Kimmo Timonen in question due to blot clots in his leg and in both lungs, the Philadelphia Flyers have signed free agent D Michael Del Zotto to a one year contract.

Del Zotto recorded 16 points (3G, 13A) and 18 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games this past season. He started the season on the New York Rangers blue line and was traded to the Predators in late January.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Flyers announced that Timonen has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lower right leg and in both lungs. Kimmo is currently being treated for this disorder back in his home country of Finland. His return to play is yet to be determined.

According to reports, Timonen suffered blood clot issues during the 2008 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Timonen's loss created a huge hole on the Flyers blue line, therefore, Hextall wasted little time finding a suitable replacement for the veteran Finn defender. Del Zotto is good, however, he's not Timonen good.

Thanks, Flyers TV
