Game notes:
- While Cory Schneider back in Vancouver again is the main storyline, I'm more inclined to see what Bo Horvat can do against New Jersey. If you don't recall, he was selected with the 9th overall pick the Devils traded to acquire Schneider. I scouted him countless times during his days with the London Knights, but it'll be fun to see how he's translating his game to the NHL level early in his career. He has four points through eight games, but those four came in the last two games.
- After sitting the last few games since being recalled from Albany, Pete DeBoer's favorite son, Pete Harrold, will make his season debut in place of Eric Gelinas. No. 22 had a few turnovers and was New Jersey's worst possession player against the Flames, so I'm OK with him sitting for a game or two. I'm not sure about anything more than that, though.
- Damon Severson recorded eight points in his first 11 games of the season, but has gone pointless in 10 games since. He does have 24 shots in that span, though, and has had chances so the points should come soon.
- The Canucks are winning a good chunk of games right now, but Ryan Miller hasn't been playing overly well owning a .904SV% at this point. With his best days in the past, the Devils would be smart to fire pucks on net from every angle and get traffic in front for screens/rebounds.
- The Sedins and Vrbata have been lights out good this season, and tough for even the best of pairings to handle. Andy Greene and Severson will need to be on their games tonight as I'm assuming they'll be seeing a lot of Vancouver's top unit.
