Don't Act Like Its A Bad Thing To Fall In Love With Samson (sabres)

The Buffalo Sabres have inked Samson Reinhart to his entry level contract. Look for him to stay and play in Buffalo this season.

All in all, Samson's just another brick in the wall. He joins an impressive Buffalo youth movement that is led by Marcus Foligno, Nic Delauriers, Cody Hodgson, Tyler Ennis, Zemgus Girgensons, Tyler Myers, Mike Weber, Mikhail Grigorenko, Joel Armia, Mark Pysyk, Rasmus Ristolainen, Nikita Zadorov, and Jake McCabe.

Now we now why Tim Murray was so passionate and persistent about wanting to sign veteran leader Brian Gionta, who will groom Reinhart and show him every nuance of playing in the best hickey league in the free world. Ditto the trade for Josh Gorges trade. Gionta and Gorges have contributed favorably to the development of Montreal youngsters Brandan Gallagher, Alex Galchenyuk, Jared Tinordi and Nathan Beaulieu. They will provide support and guidance for Reinhart and the Buffalo young studs much the same way this season.

Fear not Sabre Nation, your team will be more competitive this season than it was last season. Does this mean that they will win 60 games en route to a playoff berth. No, it does not. Does signing Reinhart mean that the Sabres have thrown in the proverbial towel on wanting to tank in order to finish between 28th and 30th overall so that they can select Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel first overall in in the 2015 NHL Draft?

Pump the brakes. The Sabres will compete on a nightly basis in 2014-15, however, they will struggle to win games. Will they be as gawd awful as they were in 2013-14? I don't think so. However, I do believe that Ted Nolan will play his kids and will give them every opportunity to earn valuable on-the-job-training while playing against men in the NHL on a nightly basis. There is no substitute for playing in the NHL. Reinhart may want to call a realtor, if he hasn't already. He's going to be staying in Buffalo for a while. He's played his last game in Kootenay of the WHL.

I can't wait to see the kid perform his magic during the scrimmage at prospects camp in Buffalo on Tuesday night.

I saw this coming a mile away

The team issues Reinhart his #23 sweater in advance of him throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday night's Buffalo Bisons vs. Durham Bulls baseball game. A sure tell that he'd be a Sabre for the foreseeable future.

The Sabres have issued this statement:

The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the team has signed forward Sam Reinhart to a three-year, entry level contract.

The second overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Reinhart (6’1…, 190 lbs., 11/6/95) became the Sabres' highest draft pick since the team selected Pierre Turgeon first overall in 1987. He joins the Sabres organization after playing four years in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Kootenay Ice.

In addition to serving as Kootenay’s captain in 2013-14, he was named the WHL 2013-14 Player of the Year and Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year.

“We are very excited to have Sam under contract,… said Sabres General Manager Tim Murray. “We look forward to watching him develop and become an important part of our organization in the future.…

In 2013-14, Reinhart led Kootenay with 105 points (36+69) in 60 games, tying for fourth overall in the WHL. He also led his team with 23 points (6+17) in 13 playoff games, advancing three rounds before Kootenay fell to the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Conference Championship.

Some guys have all the luck.

Samson Reinhart has luxurious hair, matinee idol looks, silky mitts, and the brain of a scientist.

Dude is also a filthy lefty!

On Friday night, Samson threw out the first pitch for the Buffalo Bisons, the Triple A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, in from of 18,000+ baseball-hockey nuts during the "Fridaynightbash" vs. the Durham Bulls.

Reinhart will wear #23 for the Sabres. Ville Leino's stench best be cleaned off Chris Drury's #23.

Thanks, Sabres.com

Tim Murray still has ink left in his Mont Blanc pen. He used some more of it to sign recently acquired power forward Jordan Samuels-Thomas to a one year contract.

Samuels-Thomas will be in attendance at prospects development camp which will get underway at Chateau Pegula in Buffalo on Monday.

On Wednesday night, Trader Tim Murray dealt a 7th round pick to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for winger Jordan Samuels-Thomas.

The 6'4 190 lb. winger was a 7th round choice of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009.

Murray had until August 15 to sign Samules-Thomas or else he would have become a UFA.

Murray wasted little time getting his name on a pro contract. The Jets' loss is the Sabres' gain.

Nice trade to size, strength, scoring and experience and depth to the Rochester Americans' roster. The Quinnipiac University graduate scored 13 goals and 16 assists in 34 games last season. He collected 46 PIMs as well.

So Murray and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff are talking trades, eh?

When will Evander Kane become a Sabre?

I like his style!
