The New Jersey Devils have signed another one of their own, as reports have surfaced that they've inked forward Mike Sislo to a contract extension.
The 26-year-old forward has put pen to paper on a two-year, two-way extension that will keep him a member of the Devils organization through the 2015-16 season, according to TVA's Renaud Lavoie.
Sislo was held pointless in 14 NHL games last season despite driving play at a 60% clip, which usually leads to results. He saw limited ice on the 4th line.
Sislo scored 23 goals and recorded 41 points in 59 AHL games last season, so it's not as if he's without talent.
Lou Lamoriello recently spoke to Devils beat writer Tom Gulitti and said the team would like to re-sign Ryan Carter, Stephen Gionta and Steve Bernier. Should those plans fall through and a deal with one of them fail to be reached, I think Sislo's capable of coming up and filling a 4th line role this fall.

On another note, Lamoriello also told Gulitti that he hopes to re-sign defenseman Mark Fayne. I've been a big fan of Fayne's game since Day 1 and have been pretty adamant about the team bringing him back, so barring excessive contract demands, I think they'd be smart to retain him. **
