Coaching Change for BPort (Islanders)

The Isles have made the following announcement:

The New York Islanders announced today that Brent Thompson has been named the Head Coach of the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the upcoming 2014-15 season. He replaces Scott Pellerin, who served in that capacity during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.

Thompson, 43, spent the last two seasons as an Assistant Coach of the Islanders. In 2012-13, he helped guide the NHL club to their first winning record and first Stanley Cup Playoff appearance since the 2006-07 season. As Head Coach of the Sound Tigers in 2011-12, Thompson led the Sound Tigers to the playoffs with a 41-26-9 record.

Of course, this begs the question, do the Isles hire a NEW assistant coach for the Isles to replace him or are they going with JUST Jack and Doug? It does get a little crowded behind that bench at times.
