Caps Pick #13 in the Draft (Washington)

The Washington Capitals opened up their 2014 Draft by picking Czech player Jakub Vrana from Linköpings of the Swedish Hockey League.

According to the ISS:

Jakub Vrana

Strengths: 1) Heavy shot and deceptive release 2) Offensive smarts and lethal tendencies 3) Strong stride and powerful skater

Weaknesses: 1)Consistency in his own zone 2) Utilizing frame on puck

Per Craig Button's Scouting Report:

"Very good offensive mind and is hungry from circles down in offensive zone. Good shot and is a player you have to respect because he can score or make a play. Ability to be dangerous quickly. One shot and score capability."

As a Caps fan, I was hoping for a two-way-center-type player or maybe a big defenseman that had the potential to be a shut-down specialist. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Welcome to Washington.

More to come...
