I had this debate with some friends and I thought is was worth throwing up the flagpole on this holiday weekend. It is very clear that the North American Team in the World Cup contains a lot more players who would be on Team USA than who would make Team Canada.
Some were saying this in a way should be an *(asterisk) should Team Canada defeat Team USA in this tournament. I wouldn't go that far, but there is no doubt that if the NHLers head to the Olympics in 2018, which is looking more and more likely (story on that later), these teams will look entirely different. Team USA will be bolstered on offense with Larkin, Eichel, Gaudreau, Matthews, Gostibehere, and others...
Those American players will be older and wiser in 2018 for sure, but some are so young they would still be able to participate in the World Cup 2020 for the U24 team...and this debate will even get more intriguing...
What do you think?
