Another day another Central Division tilt, this time in St. Louis against the Blues. The opponent may be different but the mission is the same. Get points in as many division contests as possible. The Blues and the Wild share identical 7-2-1 records through 10 games and just to show you how tough the Central is that is only good enough for a tie for 3rd place.
Tonight the Wild will need to contain Vladimir Tarasenko as he is arguably the best player in the game today and always is a factor when these teams meet. The Blues play a very disciplined game, they have yet to yield more than 3 goals in a game through their first 10 and are 4-0-1 thus far at Scottrade.
Rookie defenseman Colton Parayko will be a game time decision for the Bkues. He is off to a great start with 4 goals and 7 points on the young season. He scored the game winner in the Blues last game against the Ducks but was forced to leave the game with an apparent leg injury. He registered an astounding 10 shots on goal in the game Thursday prior to his exit due to injury. He has an absolute bomb from the point and the Wild will need to be aware when he is on the ice.
For the Wild Justin Fontaine is out tonight after his knee on knee collision with Andrew Desjardins last night. He most likely will be placed on IR. The Wild have recalled Jordan Schroeder on an emergency basis but Fontaine's injury is reportedly a week to week injury so Schroeder may be up for an extended period of time.
The Blues have the Wild circled on the calendar as they want revenge from last year's playoff exit. When these teams meet there is no love loss between them for sure. Look for Steve Ott to be his normal pesky self trying to stir the pot along with Ryan Reeves. Look for Chris Porter to have some added fire as he makes his first trip back to St. Louis as a former Blue.
Let's Play Hockey!
