The Road Is Where The Sharks' Heart Is (sharks)

The San Jose Sharks continued their road mastery with another big win away from the Shark Tank on Tuesday night.

It was the second road win in as many nights for the Western Conference road warriors.

The Sharks defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 last night and the Calgary Flames 5-4 on Monday. The back-to-back road sweep improved San Jose's overall road record to 15-6-2, best in the West and one behind the Caps for tops in the NHL.

San Jose extended their current win streak to three games and moved into third place in the Pacific Division. ...

Head coach Pete Deboer, ever the 'glass half full' guy, felt good about his club after last nights win...and who can blame him?

"I've said all along that I'm optimistic about our group," DeBoer said. "I like where we're going. We're heading in the right direction. We're not where we want to be yet, but we're heading there."

The Sharks seem to have found their stride after stumbling in the new year. San Jose has climbed to within four points of the Coyotes for second in the Pacific and still own a game in hand.

The turnaround comes at a time when the Sharks are finding their groove offensively. They have outscored their opponents 16-5 in the past three games.

To put some perspective on that just consider the Sharks had 16 goals total in their previous seven games prior to the breakout.

What I find so promising in the bulk of the offensive production coming by committee, not just the usual suspects. Ten different players have goals during the winning streak and that includes Logan Couture, who FINALLY potted one.

This team just plays more relaxed on the road. They almost seem to enjoy themselves more. Unfortunately, six of the next seven games are at the SAP Center, including bouts with the Stars and Kings.

The lone road game is a big one versus the 'Yotes in Arizona. That should be a fun one.

...

Shark Bait Ooooo Ha Ha...

- Joel Ward is waking from his season long slumber. The winger is making opposing defenses work ridiculously hard in their own end. His effort shave been rewarded with three goals in his last four games.

- Brent Burns has a very long beard. He can also shoot a hockey puck pretty good too. The hybrid defenseman has points in eight straight and 17 points (8g 9a) overall in the last 11 games.

- Joe Pavelski, the Sharks leading scorer, went six games between Nov. 25 and Dec. 8 without a goal. In the fourteen games since, Pavelski has 10 goals and 8 assists. Pavelski has reached at least 20 goals in seven of the last eight seasons.

- Joe Thornton had his eight game point streak snapped in the loss to Detroit last week. I wouldn't worry too much though...he's rebounded nicely with 2 goals and three assists in the three games since.

Winning is so much more fun than losing. Am I right or am I right?
