On Backes...
David Backes is CRUCIAL to Ken Hitchcock. Hitch relies on him to sell his system and have his back. I know many felt he would be moving on and signing a long-term deal elsewhere, but I can imagine a scenario where Hitch would want to know that Backes could at least possibly be brought back before accepting this curtain call. I am hearing NJ and Toronto would love to grab Backes...especially Toronto. David Backes is the EXACT type of player that Babcock needs to help along all these young star players.
On Shattenkirk...
Rumors swirled that the Red Wings tried to get Shattenkirk at last year's Draft and now I am hearing they could once again explore this path, however Montreal and Colorado are also keeping a close eye on this player...I believe Shattenkirk will find a new home...
