Starting a two-game homestand, Lindy Ruff's Dallas Stars (37-29-10) host Bob Hartley's Calgary Flames (41-28-7) on Monday night. Game time at the American Airlines Center is 7:30 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the third and final meeting of the season between the teams, and the lone game in Dallas. On Dec. 18, the Stars claimed a 2-1 regulation road win. Five nights ago, the Stars earned a shootout bonus point in Calgary by an official 4-3 final score.
The Stars are still mathematically alive in the Western Conference wildcard chase. With six games left, Dallas is six points out. However, there is no margin for error for the Stars and they do not fully control their own destiny.
The Stars enter this game coming off a 4-3 comeback overtime victory in Vancouver on Saturday night. Dallas earned wins in Calgary and Vancouver but an abysmal performance in Edmonton in the middle game of the three-game western Canada road trip hurt the team's flickering playoff hopes.
The Flames are locked in a very tight battle for third place -- and a playoff spot -- in the Pacific Division. Coming off a 5-2 road win over Nashville on Sunday, Calgary enters play one point ahead of the Los Angeles Kings but with one additional game played to date.
