Some Lower Level Trade Targets (Penguins)

First things first. #JagrWatch2015 has concluded. The Florida Panthers have won the services of Jaromir Jagr. They acquired him for a 2015 second round pick and a conditional 2016 third round pick.

This was obviously in a price range that fell outside of what the Pittsburgh Penguins could do, even if they had interest.

Best wishes to Jaromir down in South Beach

Chances are the Penguins are finished on the trade market but there are still some “lower level… players that could help them out and I don’t believe the cost to acquire would be high.

I will discuss two of them today.

The first is Erik Condra of the Ottawa Senators. He is a quality possession guy who comes in with a cap hit of 1.25M. He isn’t known for offense but he does have 3 goals and 7 points in his last 10 games

My other trade target currently resides in Dallas. Patrick Eaves would be another improvement to the bottom six grouping. Patrick Eaves was hit in the head with a slap shot about two weeks ago. His X-Rays came back negative and he is about ready to return to their lineup. Very solid possession guy who can generate shots. Both nice qualities for a fourth line player. Also comes with a smaller cap hit of 650k.

Like I said, the Penguins are probably done but that doesn’t mean you stop doing your homework and continue to explore potential possibilities.
