Sens split first two preseason games; Belleville Sens official (Senators)

Sorry for the lack of a recap/preview yesterday, but I was in the emergency room getting my appendix taken out and was in no position to write.

As such, I didn't get to see any of Monday's win in Halifax (but got a decent recap from a very nice orderly the next morning) and saw only parts of Tuesday's loss to the Sabres.

It was good to see Derick Brassard score in his Senators debut, and also create chances for his linemates on the power play, that they failed to convert on, or he might have matched Mika Zibanejad's one-goal, two-assist assist effort in his Rangers debut on the same night.

The Senators seemed to be a step behind for much of the game, a little concerning considering the puck pressure Guy Boucher wants to instill in his system, on a night where most of the A players were in the lineup.

You can't read too much into the result, it being the first game for most of the guys, but Boucher had crazy eyes going behind the bench already.

The team will get Erik Karlsson back in camp sometime this weekend, which will obviously be a big boost to the lineup.

As I reported (first!) last week, it was officially announced on Monday that the AHL affiliate for the Senators is moving to Belleville starting next season, following Euguene Melnyk's purchase of the team. There are already more than 1000 season ticket deposits received from the die-hards that had their OHL team swiped a couple of years ago, when they were sold and moved to Hamilton. The City of Belleville is making more than $18M in arena upgrades to bring it up to par.
