Ryan Strome Loaned To Bridgeport ("NHL""ISLANDERS")

The Islanders announced Friday that they have loaned forward Ryan Strome to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. Strome has been pretty much invisible this season. He has been very careless with the puck. The 22-year-old has scored just one goal in 12 games and hasn't record a point in the past 5 games. The 2011 first-round pick was a healthy scratch once this season.

This was the only move that General Manager Garth Snow and Head Coach Jack Capuano could do. Strome is the only forward that can be sent to Bridgeport without passing through waivers. I see this as a 1-game demotion. The Sound Tigers are home tomorrow night and I fully expect Strome to be in the lineup for Sunday's game at Barclays vs the Bruins. If it is beyond the one game and he misses the entire west coast trip it will be telling to see how Strome responds. Lets hope he doesn't follow the Nino Niederreiter path.
