Report: Blackhawks Interested In Atkinson (Blackhawks)

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises to come out of all these trade deadline rumors is that Columbus is open to moving Cam Atkinson.

Given their depth (or lack thereof) on the right side you'd figure that Atkinson was safe, especially considering he's the best right wing they have, and at 25 he still has plenty of good years ahead of him.

Despite that, Columbus seems open to moving him, and he is drawing plenty of interest.

A couple weeks ago it was rumored the Boston Bruins are interested in Atkinson's services. That list obviously is longer than one team, and we now know that the Chicago Blackhawks are among the interested parties.

TSN's Bob McKenzie reported on Insider Trading that the Blackhawks are looking at several players and that Atkinson is among them. Antoine Vermette and Curtis Glencross were others mentioned, if interested.

Personally I wouldn't move Atkinson, but with all the interest he's garnering I have a hard time believing Jarmo Kekalainen wouldn't fetch a good return for him.

It should be an interesting few days in Columbus.
