Quick Hits: Lindblom, Bernhardt, Alumni and More (Flyers)

QUICK HITS: AUGUST 22, 2016

1) Flyers left wing prospect Oskar Lindblom's shorthanded goal at 16:06 of the third period lifted Brynà¤s IF Gà¤vle to a 2-1 road win over AIK at the Norrtà¤lje Sportcentrum in BIF's first game of the preseason. Skating down the ice untouched to the left slot, Lindblom received a centering pass from out of the right corner. Lindblom's initial shot hit the post but he quickly stashed in the rebound. Felix Sandström earned the win in goal. Game highlights are below:

3) Flyers Alumni Fantasy Camp wraps up today with the championship game at the Skate Zone in Atlantic City, NJ. Over on the Flyers' website, there are video clip highlights of days one and two.

4) Today in Flyers History: August 22

1974: After announcing his retirement as a player due to a serious eye injury, Flyers Hall of Famer Barry Ashbee formally accepts an offer to become an assistant coach under Hockey Hall of Famer Fred Shero.

1985: The Hockey Hall of Fame career of left winger Bill Barber officially comes to an end as he retires due to chronic knee problems. He had not played in over a year.

2005: The Flyers made various depth signings, inking free agent forwards Eric Chouinard, Pat Kavanagh and Ryan Ready as well as free agent veteran goaltender Jamie Storr to contracts.

Birthdays: Current Flyers forward Brayden Schenn (born Aug. 22, 1991) turns 25 today. He shares a birthday with longtime Hershey Bears standout Mitch Lamoureaux (1962) and hard-checking defenseman Bruno St. Jacques (1980). Current Flyers goalie prospect Merrick Madsen turns 21 today.
