Post Battle #70 vs Detroit Red Wings (Blue Jackets)

Final Score: Red Wings 3 – Blue Jackets 1

Game Summary

Oliver Bjorkstrand’s NHL debut wasn’t enough to spark the Jackets, as they managed to score just a single goal. Detroit made some good plays got a couple bounces and took home a 3-1 win.

I thought Bjorkstrand had a fine game. His tools were evident right away. He's a real good skater and looked comfortable rushing the puck. He was able to draw a hooking penalty on Brendan Smith. He played 16:02 including 2:35 on the power play. He didn’t record a point and had one shot on goal. He failed to record a scoring chance and finished worst among forwards with a 36.84% Corsi. He has lots of room to grow.

Sergei Bobrovsky got the start and fell victim to some poor puck luck. The first goal was tipped. The second goal was really unlucky. Justin Abdelkader’s pass deflected off of Seth Jones’ stick, bounced off Bob and went right to Henrik Zetterberg on the door step.

The third goal never should of happened. Darren Helm came in against Justin Falk and John Ramage on a one vs two rush, neither defender was able to do anything, Helm just fired it and he scored.

Speaking of Ramage he didn’t standout much. He played on the third pair and only played 14:09. He finished with a team worst 27.27% Corsi.

Alexander Wennberg scored the Jackets lone goal, a power play marker late in the third period. Boone Jenner made a strong move to take the puck to the net, Cam Atkinson made a good play to keep the puck alive and Wennberg was able to put it in the net.

That goal ended the longest home goalless drought for the team in franchise history. The Jackets went 156:02 between home goals.
