Final Score: Leafs 5 – Blue Jackets 2
Game Summary
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Blue Jackets get heavily outplayed, out shot and out chanced, but their goalie stands on his head to steal game. This time it wasn’t Sergei Bobrovsky but rather the rookie Joonas Korpisalo.
Korpisalo responded very well to John Tortorella’s comments calling him and Anton Forsberg not ready for the NHL. Korpisalo made 41 saves to pick up his second win of the season. The Leafs peppered him with tons of chances, 45 to be exact. The Jackets on the other hand had just 22 shots and 23 scoring chances. Korpisalo was fantastic and the reason the Jackets won the game.
Seth Jones didn’t have a great game from a possession standpoint (no Jacket did) but he managed to pick up his first point as a member of the Union Blue. He put his shot (pass?) in the perfect spot and Boone Jenner made a nice tip to put it top shelf.

— Stephanie (@myregularface) January 14, 2016The young players continued to play well. Kerby Rychel picked up the second assist on that Boone goal, his second point in the last three games. Alexander Wennberg picked up his fifth goal on the season, which ended up being the game winner. For Wennberg that is his second goal in his last three.
David Savard was hurt in the second period, and did not return. He was said to have an upper body injury. This caused some shuffling with the defensive pairs. I didn’t see anything major happen with Savard so it’s hard to say how serious this injury may be. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. If Savard has to miss some time the Jackets still have Fedor Tyutin and Dalton Prout, both of whom were scratched tonight.
The Jackets no longer have Kevin Connauton who was claimed off of waivers by the Arizona Coyotes. Much like with Andrew Bodnarchuk I'm quite shocked he was claimed. It’s curious that guys like David Runblad, Jakob Kindl, and Brandon Gormley can get through waivers but not those two.
