1) On Thursday TSN's Frank Seravelli wrote an article sharing 20 names that could potentially be on the move this off-season.
There were a lot of notables listed such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Frederik Andersen and Rick Nash, among others. Most of them are names we've heard for a while, though.
One player I was surprised to see listed was Minnesota Wild forward Mikael Granlund.
Granlund is 24 years old, signed through next season for just $3 million (he'll be a restricted free agent after that) and has recorded at least 30 assists in three consecutive seasons.
In that three-year span Granlund has recorded 124 points in 213 contests. That's 48 points per 82 games.
On top of solid point production Granlund's underlying numbers are also good. From 2013-16 the Wild have controlled 50.5% of the shot attempts and 52.6% of the scoring chances with Granlund on the ice. Without him those numbers dip to 48.8% and 50.1%.
I don't know what it would cost to pry Granlund from Minnesota but he's young, he can produce offensively - although he won't score many goals - and he can play in all situations.
I think he could be a good fit for the Devils.
2) The accolades continue to pile up for goaltending prospect Mackenzie Blackwood as on Thursday he was named an OHL First-Team All-Star.
As was the case in OHL Goaltender of the Year voting, Blackwood edged out Alex Ndeljkovic and Devin Williams for top spot.
Goaltending may not be a position of weakness in the Devils' organization but Blackwood continues to look like a very good pick by Ray Shero and his staff; especially when you factor in the Devils traded down to get him.
