Some notes on the Albany Devils' playoff run, Nick Lappin, Damon Severson and more:
1) The A-Devs took a 2-1 series lead over the Toronto Marlies on Sunday night as they picked up a 3-2 win in overtime.
The win came in dramatic fashion as Albany trailed 2-1 late and were forced to play the final 1:30 of regulation with a man in the box. That didn't stop them from tying things up, though, as Nick Lappin was on the doorstep to bang in the rebound from a Damon Severson shot and tie things up with 20 seconds remaining.
Lappin then went on to score the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining in overtime.
There were a few strong performances from A-Devs in this game but Lappin definitely stole the show as he not only scored a pair of goals but recorded 11 shots on goal in the process.
Lappin now has three goals and 20 shots over the last two games and is quickly emerging as one of the go-to guys for head coach Rich Kowalsky.
Which is better: Nick Lappin's overtime game-winner or his goal celebration? (Hint: The answer is both) #TORvsALB pic.twitter.com/AfJnMGCcVc

2) I continue to be impressed by Damon Severson's play. I know that should be the case given he's playing down a league after a couple seasons in the NHL but it's encouraging to see nonetheless.
Severson is playing with great poise, confidence and is really controlling play from the back end. He hasn't been afraid to rush the puck up ice and create offense himself and he has shown no hesitation when it comes to activating and getting involved in the play offensively.
I still believe there is some untapped potential and I'm hoping, with more opportunity, that will shine through in the coming seasons.
3) Scott Wedgewood's strong season continued with another good performance against the Marlies. He stopped 25-27 and made several Grade A stops including some impressive post-to-post and breakaway saves.
Playoffs included Wedgewood is 19-5-5 with a .928 save percentage on the year. I expect him to give Keith Kinkaid a run for his money for the backup job next season.
