Lou Lamoriello Out As Devils President, In As Maple Leafs GM (NHL)

The Lou Lamoriello era is over in New Jersey.

After 28 seasons with the Devils where they won three Stanley Cups, made five Cup appearances and won nine division championships with Lamoriello at the helm the long-time GM has decided to resign as President of the team.

His days in hockey are far from over, though, as in a stunning turn of events he's taking over as the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Lamoriello will be reunited with ex-Devil Brendan Shanahan who he drafted into the NHL almost 30 years ago.

On top of his familiarity with Shanahan - and the opportunity to take on a new challenge - the role he'll play in Toronto is much more significant than an advisory role with the Devils which surely was a big factor into the decision.
