I'm delighted to report that on Friday evening I had a really terrific half hour phone chat with the Kings' Hall of Fame TV voice Bob Miller who is recovering from quadruple bypass surgery from last month. It was great to hear Bob's voice and his sense of humor is as sharp as ever. While he reports that his stamina is still diminished, the 77-year old broadcasting legend is making great progress and improving every day. Bob and his terrific wife, Judy, walk around the neighborhood every day and next week he will be starting 12 weeks of three-times-a-week cardiac rehabilitation sessions.

Bob reports that he does not expect to be able to return to the Kings' TV booth this season or in the playoffs, but he is looking forward to being back full time next Fall. He thanks the literally thousands of hockey fans and colleagues for all the good wishes and especially all the broadcasters who have been making little audio and video get well messages that his old Kings broadcasting colleague, Pete Weber, has been putting together for him.
"I've been following the team closely," he told me, "and have only missed watching two games -- the day of my surgery and the next one when I was still in intensive care. Nick Nickson is doing a great job and the Kings have been wonderful about my being sidelined. They've told me to take all the time I need to be fully recovered."
Bob has been a close friend for more than forty years and is one of my very very favorite people not only in hockey, but in life as well. Best to Bob and Judy for a great spring and summer and I'll be looking forward to hearing you call the Kings again next season!!
