Marcus Johansson was suspended two games without pay for his illegal check to the head on Islanders player Thomas Hickey.
Johansson received a two-minute minor penalty on the play for an illegal check to the head.
The Caps have recalled Paul Carey from the Hershey Bears. Carey has recorded 12 goals and 11 assists in 35 games so far this season for the Bears.
The hit against Hickey, to me, looked just fine. Johansson finished his check and rocked the defenseman with his shoulder. Johansson isn't the kind of guy to headhunt, or even lay a hit like this. He's normally a very respectful player.
But, the NHL has spoken.
