It's the boring pick but I can't go against Canada. Even with several key players withdrawing due to injuries, and some questionable roster decisions, they are still stacked at each position from top to bottom. Anything can happen, especially in a short tournament, but I really believe they're the team to beat.
My second choice would be Sweden. They don't have the offensive fire power that Russia or Team North America possess but their offense is still very good and they have arguably the two best defensemen in the NHL (Erik Karlsson and Victor Hedman) on their team.
James Tanner I hate to be a bore, but Canada. Their depth is ridiculous to the point where a second Canadian team would probably be the Silver Medal favorites. Or whatever they give out for second place at the World Cup.
Their depth is incredible and they indisputably have the best team. If there is an upset, I predict it will be by the Russians.
Adam French Team Europe because East Germany and Yugoslavia are pumping their athletes full of roids and there is nothing we can do to stop them.
Seriously though. I think Team Canada wins. It's cliche. It's not fun or miraculous, but it's the most likely. They're the deepest team at all positions other than maybe "actual wingers." They have two of the most frightening beards I've ever seen, which you just know intimidates everyone.
I'd love for an upset and somebody like Team North America to win, but I'm not holding my breath. Knowing how internationally hockey has gone these past few years the Finns will win inexplicably on the backs of what appears to be the most mediocre defense in the whole thing because "team work" or some crap.
