Hotstove: Ranking The NHL's Top-5 Wingers (Capitals)

In this edition of the hotstove we share our rankings for the top-5 wingers in the NHL right now.

Todd Cordell

1. Alexander Ovechkin - There have been two 50-goal seasons over the last two years. Ovechkin had both of them and has led the league in goals three years running.

2. Corey Perry - He had a bit of a down year by his standards but he still has 76 goals in 148 games over the last two seasons. Few can fill the net like he can.

3. Jakub Voracek - He has 143 points over the last two seasons and is an elite possession driving winger.

4. Jamie Benn - Has 166 points over the last two years and plays with a mean streak. One of the best power forwards the league has to offer.

5. Vladimir Tarasenko - Tarasenko defines the term game breaker. He scored 37 goals and averaged almost a point per game last season and I still think he has more to give.

Honorable mention: Phil Kessel, Taylor Hall.

Tim Chiasson 1. Alex Ovechkin: The guy routinely scores 50 goals. It's hard not put him on the top of the list.

2. Vladimir Tarasenko: Tarasenko emerged last year as a superstar and it's a legitimate title. This kid is fantastic and an absolute great player to watch play the game.

3. Jakub Voracek: I think Voracek is better than Giroux, so putting him in the top five was pretty easy. He's the guy that's running the offense on the Flyers now and he almost won the Art Ross last year. The Flyers might be a huge disappointment, but at least they'll look good doing it with Voracek making plays.

4. Max Pacioretty: Paciroetty is the only guy who can score goals for the Montreal Canadiens. It's almost criminal that he has to play with the players he does. He's lightyears ahead of any other Canadien forward and is a consistent 30+ goal guy.

5. Jamie Benn: 166 points in 163 games over the past two seasons with 69 goals included. Benn is a top notch NHL forward and helps give Dallas one of the most dangerous offensive lines in the NHL. What a find in the 5th round.
