Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas will miss the upcoming World Cup of Hockey tournament with a wrist injury suffered in training.
"We are hopeful and optimistic he will not miss any regular-season games," said Flyers general manager in a statement issued by the organization, who used an in-season style "upper-body injury" designation to describe the issue rather than citing the specific injury.
Gudas will have to withdraw from the Team Czech Republic roster the upcoming World Cup of Hockey tournament (September 17 to October 1). According to Hextall, the rugged defenseman, who signed a four-year contract extension in June reported to carry a $3.35 million cap hit, will be re-evaluated on a week-to-basis.
The Flyers will still have seven participants in the World Cup: Claude Giroux (Team Canada), Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Couturier (Team North America), Jakub Voracek and Michael Neuvirth (Team Czech Republic), Mark Streit and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare (Team Europe).
