Glencross to the Washington Capitals? (flames)

Just a quick hit for today as I had my wisdom teeth removed a few hours ago and the only thing keeping me in this chair are T3’s!

It appears that the Washington Capitals are the team who have been chatting with Brad Treviling for a while now regarding Curtis Glencross, and I can honestly see them make the biggest push to acquire the veteran winger.

The Capitals currently hold one of two wildcard spots and are looking for a little more experience in their top six, and are looking to push for a playoff run. Having Glencross as a rental could help in that regard and having to pay a 2nd rounder + prospect is not a crazy price to ask if you feel your team could make a solid run.

Washington are currently on a 7-3-0 run of late and they are only one point behind the Pens to take over the third Metro spot in the East, despite having played one extra game to date. Expect something to happen any day now, and given that the Flames don’t hit tomorrow night, I could see an announcement on Thursday re: trade. Stay tuned!

With respect to tonight, the Flames will take to the ice against the NJ Devils who are on a 4 game winning streak and are also trying to squeeze into a playoff spot. The Flames have already dropped their first game of their seven game road trip, so tonight will be very important for both teams, especially Calgary who really needs to come out of this trip in a playoff spot.

Last night’s lost wasn’t bad IMO, they stayed in the game and lost (to another) one goal game. The Flames have been expressing difficulties getting shots to the net, so they will need to work on that tonight if they plan on walking away with two points.

That’s it for today, enjoy the game and keep on eye on Twitter for trade updates!
