There is a report out there that goes along with some of what I am hearing in regards to Johnny Gaudreau..That his camp is seeking Ekblad money based on the belief that Johnny Hockey is more important to his team than Ekblad is to Florida....When negotiations start hitting these sorts of moments you can start to get a bit concerned...I have gone on the record several times saying I feel Gaudreau is most definitely a 7M per player and should be the highest paid Flame.
No question.
But Ekblad is an entirely different animal. He may be a top 5 D in the league already and frankly is a bargain at 7.5. Hard to say Gaudreau is more valuable than Ekblad....and that is not a slight on Gaudreau in the least...who I respect and consider in the realm of Pavel Bure type upside potential....
