The long wait is over for the season to get underway. National Hockey League teams are preparing their rosters which means players are being sent back to their AHL or junior hockey clubs. There are even a few players who are being waived that perhaps shouldn’t have been, keep a close eye for those of you in keeper pools.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the HBSL (HockeyBuzz SuperLeague) you better sign up today as there are only a few spots left and once the season begins you are out of luck!

At the beginning of each week I will be posting which teams play how many games so you can consider adding free agents from those teams if perhaps one of your core players are hurt and you are looking to fill a void.
Being active is what makes fantasy hockey that much more fun. Be sure to keep an eye on hot prospects that catch fire, each year you can usually pluck a stallion or two from the free agency that helps you win your hockey pool. Last year I drafted Panarin in two pools and also scooped up Larkin and Ristolainen. It’s important to keep an eye out and be the first to jump on a player before someone else scoops them up.
Each blog I post will include the starting goalies for the games that day and I plan to update throughout the day to ensure accuracy.
Pointing out players who are hot, cold and or injured will also be included throughout the week to help keep you on your toes. Also keep an eye out of you see any trades or key injuries that take place. For example, if Halak gets hurt again you can bet that Greiss’ value will go way up and he will in turn get a number of starts for the Islanders. Be quick, before someone else beats you to the punch.
Feel free to join in the comments section or private message me if you have any questions about player value, trades or even thoughts about your draft/rosters. I’m here to help guide you and there are a number of quality posters who know their hockey, the more chatter the better. Fantasy hockey is growing, and the competition is getting stiffer, so any quality tips can be a big factor in winning your pool(s) and bringing home the cake.
I’m in a 45 man keeper league with every stat you can imagine. I’m also in a rotiserrie league, two head to head leagues as well as the HBSL, so I should have no problems covering all angles when it comes to fantasy hockey.
This will be my third year covering fantasy hockey for Hockeybuzz and I’ve had a lot of great feedback from my readers, helping them ease their mind with a trade decision and ultimately winning their pools. I hope to continue that trend again this year!
Best of luck to everyone with their drafts and feel free to chime in with any fantasy talk.
I will be posting my fantasy teams on Thursday this week. Also make sure that you have your HBSL rosters set before the first game of each week.
Thanks for reading.
