Devils In Position To Make Several Deadline Day Deals (Devils)

There were plenty of trades leading up to the deadline, but the Devils still have the potential to be very busy.

Being nine points out of the playoffs with several teams ahead of them having games in hand, New Jersey's playoff chances are very slim to none.

That obviously means it would make sense to move pending UFAs such as Marek Zidlicky (if he'll waive his NTC), Martin Havlat and Michael Ryder, among others.

There's always teams looking for defensemen and depth scoring around the deadline, and the Devils have some affordable pieces in both cases.

New Jersey has plenty of cap space, too, and seem unlikely to embrace a full rebuild with an elite goaltender already in place, so if some high-end players become available the Devils could take a long hard look.

There's no guarantees, but it could be a fun day.
