Follow @james_tanner123 The Coyotes played on Thursday night against the Flyers and won their second game of the season, though how they ended up winning that game, I'll never know.
Then again, why do they continue to sit their prized prospect in the press box? I don't know that either.
Through seven games so far, the Coyotes have a record of 2-5 and they are entertaining as hell. Sure, they lose most of their games, make roster decisions out of a hat and insist on treating Shane Doan like he's the 24 year old future of the franchise, but if you like watching high-event hockey, this is the team for you. Over seven games, they've scored 22 goals and allowed 30 - that's 7.4 goals per game.
Who needs bigger nets?
How did the Coyotes win this game? Might as well call up Moulder and solve a few X Files as answer that. They took eight penalties. Eight. They also allowed 13 more shot attempts at 5v5 then they allowed.
So that isn't good.
But then again, their second line was Tobias Reider, Shane Doan and Brad Richardson.
Somewhere Don Maloney is laughing.
Anyways, Dylan Strome still isn't playing and it's a shame. Christian Dvorak is on the fourth line and Shane Doan is got more ice time against the Flyers than either Max Domi or Anthony Duclair.
Someone give me a reason to defend Dave Tippett? Maybe he should have been shown the door with Maloney.
The Coyotes win/loss record isn't their problem. Their problem is how they're dealing with their roster.
Tonight they play the Avalanche in what should be a high-scoring entertaining affair.
The six game road trip is over, and the team is back at home for the first time since the first game of the season.
But come on, what's the point of sitting the most important player in your organization in the press box. He can't go to the AHL, he shouldn't have been in junior last season, so sending him back is pointless. You have no chance of making the playoffs anyway, so just freaking play the kid.
Honestly, the only thing I can think of here is that the Coyotes are making an intentionally stupid decision as a salute to their old GM, Don Maloney.
There is only one way to describe the Coyotes' roster and line construction: embarrassingly bad.
I don't care how good Brad Richardson is playing, he's playing too much. He's 31. He isn't a part of this team's future.
Otherwise, how does it make any sense?
Somebody get Moulder on the phone.
