Update: Aaron Volpatti placed on waivers.
********************************************************************* The Washington Capitals have finally entered the trade deadline race acquiring defenseman Tim Gleason from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Jack Hillen and a 4th Round Pick (originally belonging to the Arizona Coyotes).
Gleason has a cap hit of $1.2M and will be a UFA at the end of the season. He's a "Trotz kinda guy" and should add some nice depth and toughness to an already deep defensive core.
Hillen has a cap hit of $700K. Hillen has been a true professional this year and it's a little sad to see him go, but he should get plenty of ice time in Carolina.
More to come...
