Calgary Flames Extend Training Camp Invite To Jamie Devane (Flames)

With training camp just over a month away teams are about to start extending training camp invites to unsigned free agents.

The Calgary Flames did just that on Tuesday as they signed forward Jamie Devane to a PTO (professional tryout).

The 6'5', 220 pound winger recorded six goals, 11 points and 82 penalty minutes while appearing in 62 games for the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville's AHL affiliate) last season.

The 25-year-old has a long history with Brian Burke dating back to his days with the Toronto Maple Leafs and that surely is the reason he'll get a look in camp.

HIs career high in points came last season when he tallied 11 so he clearly wasn't brought in for his offense. Realistically he should be an early cut but the Flames have talked about wanting to be more physical and 'tougher to play against' so it won't be all that surprising if he sticks around for most of camp.

Under no circumstances would I keep Devane on an NHL roster but it can't hurt to bring him in for a look with no strings attached.
