Barclays center, the current.. Well as of today, home of the New York Islanders have announced that there will be more advancements to the in game experience for Isles home games. The arena's CEO Brett Yormark released a press release yesterday announcing that Barclays is trying to improve.
"We have sought your feedback through focus groups and surveys and we're listening to what you have to say." The release went on to say they are committed to improving your game experience and will continue to work with the Disney institute to improve the quality of the staff.
Hopefully this means that Disney will advise their security guards to not assault Isles fans. Last time I went to Epcot, nobody was knocked out by Donald Duck. The Islanders announced today that there will be double the LIRR trains to Barclays on game days and it will run on the same schedule as they did for the playoffs.
Clearly the team and arena are trying. It is also clear that new owner Jonahan Ledecky is squeezing Barclays to raise their standards. I'm not getting into the long term home of the Isles. We are all suffering from fatigue on that narrative. It will be interesting to see how the Barclays hockey experience will be improved come October. A winning team on playable NHL quality ice would be a great start.
