First, how is this face not on the cover of NHL16 over the last minute cover decision of Toews/Kane? This is a picture you could frame.

Rumor From The Draft
In Tom Gulitti’s article from yesterday a Sharks draft rumor was mentioned.
“The Flyers had an offer on the table from San Jose, which offered a third-round pick to move up from No. 9 to No. 7 and Hextall wanted to know what player the Blue Jackets were planning to pick. Kekalainen indicated he didn't give Hextall that information.… (Fire and Ice)
Alright, for starters, offering a third round pick to move up in the first round is a laughable proposal. It’s not really an aggressive move to get such a quality player like Ivan Provorov; it’s more like an offer to question the sanity of Ron Hextall as an NHL GM.
If the Philadelphia Flyers were even considering moving back in a deal with the Sharks then Doug Wilson should have been doing serious inquiries. Timo Meier is a great prospect – but Ivan Provorov would have been the money shot.
Could San Jose Still Get In On Franson?
Cody Franson is still available, and he’s likely available at a cheaper rate than first expected. Here are some quotes from the interview with TSN that Franson had (transcribed quotes from Maple Leafs Hot Stove)
“Is there a minimum number of years in mind?Franson: No, not really. We are kind of open. Obviously I’d like to get something a little more than one year. I’m sick of doing one-year deals, but yeah, we’re open to all suggestions really.…
“What other considerations are factoring into the process (place in the depth chart, contending teams, etc)?
Franson: It comes down to a couple of different details. If you end up taking a shorter term deal, a two year deal or something like that, I’m probably going to try to put myself in a position to try to win a Cup.… (Maple Leafs Hot Stove)
Would you do three years at $4.75M-$5M for Franson?
As always, thanks for reading.
