In anything but unexpected news, and what will be their only roster move of the day according to head coach Claude Julien, the Boston Bruins have placed forward Zac Rinaldo on waivers.
The 26-year-old Rinaldo missed significant ice time in the early part of B's training camp with a lower-body injury, and ultimately never found his way into game action before hitting waivers.
Rinaldo, who still has to serve a five-game suspension upon a regular season NHL recall for his check to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Cedric Paquette in a Feb. 28 game last season, the recorded one goal and three points in 52 games for the Bruins last season, along with 154 hits and 83 minutes in penalties.
Acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers for a 2017 third-round pick in what has undoubtedly been Don Sweeney's most disastrous move, the 5-foot-10 agitator has struggled to find his groove in the organization, and seems unlikely to be a part of Boston's NHL roster at any point this year.
A sixth-round draft pick from 2010 (178th overall), Rinaldo has recorded nine goals, 27 points, and 655 penalty minutes in 275 career games between the B's and Flyers.
In addition to no Rinaldo, the Bruins went through their Friday practice at Warrior Ice Arena without defenseman Adam McQuaid (undisclosed) ahead of tomorrow's preseason finale with the Flyers, where the Bruins intend to give Tuukka Rask the full 60 minutes in net.
