Over the last few weeks the New Jersey Devils have often been mentioned when talking about potential landing spots for Jimmy Vesey.
A decision from him and his camp is expected within the next day or two and, if the newest reports are true, the Devils are no longer in the mix.
Jimmy Vesey will be with an American original 6 team I'm hearing. @NYRangers & @NHLBlackhawks are finalists according to multiple sources.

Nothing final yet, but hearing it's #NYR or #CHI for Jimmy Vesey. Tavares made a strong pitch for #Isles but they fell short, it appears.

There have been mixed reports throughout this entire process so it's hard to get a firm grasp on what is true and what isn't. In saying that a former NHL GM, who undoubtedly has a lot of connections within the league, and one of the most reliable beat writers out there are both on the same page saying it's the New York Rangers or Chicago Blackhawks.
I wouldn't completely rule out the Devils just yet but it seems more likely than not he'll be taking his talents elsewhere.
While signing Vesey is definitely preferable to not - getting a good prospect for free is always a good thing - he is being overhyped and will almost certainly not make the impact many people seem to be expecting.
