Follow @james_tanner123 After a 3-11 February - most likely caused by the shadow of a groundhog - I would be well justified in writing an I Told You So blog (because I did tell you this is what happens when you continue to dress Antoine Vermette in a top-six role) but I have too much class for that.
Besides, a state that just suffered through six years of Jan Brewer doesn't deserve any more crap thrown it's way.
The Coyotes played so far above their heads from October through January that it wouldn't take a genius to predict what was going to happen, but it still sucks. They have now lost six in a row and will be sending out back-up to the back-up's back-up Niklas Treutle in tonight's game against the Ducks.
So seven in a row is a very, very likely outcome. A loss to the Ducks coupled with a win by Edmonton against the Flyers would put the Coyotes just three points out of the Western Conference basement. Currently they sit eight points out of the final Wild Card spot.
And let's face it, that's where they need to be.
So let's tank it up.
And let's not pretend that playing Dahlbeck, Vermette, Michalek, Tiinordi, Grossmann et. al. wasn't a tank job in the first place. You know Maloney will admit as much next year anyways!
Anyways, should be a good game.
What else is up?
Well, the World Cup rosters are wacky. The States left Gardiner off their roster and team Canada has a general manager who talks about plus/minus in public and chose to leave Muzzin, Brodie, Subban and Letang off his roster.
Other than that, I had a great day blasting classic album after classic album all day at work (even though I am laughed at constantly for bringing a bag full of cds to work every day) and was referred to as a brainwashed "globe-head" by a guy who - I swear to God - tried to convince me that the earth is flat.
Which, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised about in a world where a guy can try to win a democratic election by strictly appealing to the absolute stupidest members of society.
If you're into DFH, I recommend my good friend Kasperi "the Ghost" Kapanan as an amazing value/bargain play.
